If you resided in Alberta on December 31, 2008, you have to use the tax package for Alberta. Question2: My son is attending university in British Columbia, but he comes home every summer to work. Which return does he file? Answer:If, on December 31 of the tax year, you had residential ties in more than one province or territory, use the tax package for the province or territory where you had the most important residential ties. For example, your son usually resides in Ontario, but he goes to school in British Columbia. He should use the tax package for Ontario.
